Who are you?

Are you a writer in Riverside CA or the Inland Empire?
(IE, 909, or 951 to locals: We're nothing without our pretentious nicknames. It's part of being SoCal and writer-like.)
Would you like some fresh eyes to look at your work? Friends and family are great help, but sometimes a peer with an honest critique is more advantageous--Or just cooler to talk to over coffee. We're friendly. We don't care why you come.

Do you write:

  • fiction
  • Non-fiction
  • Poetry
  • Essays
Published or unpublished, it doesn't matter; our group thrives on the diversity of our members. If you have a voice, we want to hear it.

Who are we?

We're a group of voices interested in honing talent while helping others master the skills that take them to the next level. What makes us unique is our different life paths.

We are:

  • high school students
  • retirees
  • journalists
  • bloggers
  • housewives
and everything in-between.

Different people specialize in different aspects of writing. Some are authorities on grammar , others are experts of character. We all offer individual talents. That's why we need you. You bring something uniquely you, and we can learn from that.
We pride ourselves in honest critiques aimed at bettering each other's work, but the pride stops there: our group is not a place for arrogance or malicious criticism. We're all here to help, to learn, and to create a friendly environment. That's the only way we can work towards publication.

What to bring

Bring up to ten pages of whatever you're working on. As a general guideline, we ask the following:

Print more than one copy-
More people will get a chance to read your work.

Print your work in 12pt size and double space-
Easier to read is more important than pretty to look at. Some of us have old eyes. Please be kind to them.

Where to find us

We meet upstairs at Goodwin's Organic Food and Drink, located near UC Riverside.  Meetings are held the first and third Wednesday of each month.
